Unfortunately my experience with Normandy Bakery in Hazlet, New Jersey was a terrible one. I gave a Christmas party on December 16th and had visited the bakery the night before to pick up all my bakery goods for the party and family breakfast the following morning. The employee behind the counter absolutely refused to sell a black forest cake I chose and kept insisting I buy another cake placed in back of the tray. There was three placed in a row on the tray. I explained to the employee I was giving a Christmas party tomorrow and was looking for items with the best presentation and would like this cake. The employee told me I could not have that cake as they rotate the cakes and had to buy the one placed in the back of the tray. I asked the employee "Are you selling a stale cake for my party?" I was then told "All the cakes were the same." Then I would like to have the cake I chose and again I was met with "No, you cannot have that cake." As the employee refused to sell the cake I wanted, I decided to leave for another bakery for my goods and the employee sarcastically wished as I left "Happy Holidays!"
Normandie Bakery made our wedding cake for our wedding at the Buttonwood Manor and it was both beautiful and also absolutely delicious. Couldn't be happier!!
We got married on July 29th 2017 and our venue recommended Normandie for our wedding cupcakes. The tasting was delicious and there were so many inventive flavors to choose from. Not just the classic chocolate and vanilla. We ordered a small 6 inch cake to cut which was chocolate filled with peanut butter and was delicious. Then we ordered a mix of chocolate cupcakes with raspberry frosting and vanilla cupcakes with fudge frosting. Ralph made everything very fast and easy. I would order another cake from them.
During the days prior to this incident, I had visited many shops (florist, fishery, butcher, grocers) and had met the most kind, over helpful individuals who had made the preparations such a delight, and a pleasure to had met them. I wish I could say the same for Normandy Bakery.
Ralph did our wedding cake for us as they were the "preferred" vendor for our wedding caterer. Well we couldn't have been more happy with everything. He was extremely helpful with the tasting session and the cake tasted better than any cake we have ever tried. Sounds like an exaggeration but it's not. We went with two different filling layers - raspberry and cannoli. The bread was white on top and booth with chocolate as the middle layer. The icing was "whipped cream" because we generally feel that butter cream is too sweet. The final product was literal perfect and our guests gave us rave reviews on the cake. We highly recommend this bakery for wedding cakes!
I'm never ever let down by this place. Couldn't ask for a better bakery and Ralph makes the experience just that much better! You've never had cake like this before!
